Roanoke Valley Broadband Authority

The Roanoke Valley Broadband Authority (RVBA)  is a partnership of the City of Roanoke, County of Roanoke, City of Salem and County of Botetourt in Virginia. It exists to make the Roanoke Valley, the region comprising these localities, a better place to live and do business by owning and operating a middle-mile broadband network to improve local internet service for businesses, community institutions and residents.

RVBA offers a reliable high-speed fiber option to enterprise businesses, data centers and public sector customers across the Roanoke Valley region. With more than 120 miles of carrier-grade, open-access fiber, RVBA delivers multi-terabit capacity fiber-to-the-door at speeds up to 200 gigabits per second.

The system is securely designed with path protection and route diversity through virtual, hardware and physical loop redundancies and U.S. Department of Defense Joint Interoperability Test Command (JITC) certified and Approved Product Lists (APL) approved routers and switches.

RVBA offers dark fiber (indefeasible rights of use or lease options available) as well as internet and private transport options up to 200 gigabits per second. More information is available on the Roanoke Valley Broadband Authority website.
